Indigenous Community Defense
“This workshop, presented by Julia and Marcus from Pueblo Action Alliance, will initiate the conversation on what it means to organize under the basis of Community Defense. What the COVID19 pandemic has taught us is that we lack readiness and preparedness when it comes to responding to crisis but what we have seen in various indigenous communities, is a structure that organizes around principles to protect our communities. In this workshop, PAA will share their definition of Community Defense and the demands to reach long term and eventually revolution. Pueblo people have been able to retain a sense of unity when it comes to protecting our lands, water, people, plants and animals. We will share other examples of what indigenous community defense looks like across our earth mother and invite our audience to reflect on how we are able to organize our communities through Community Defense.” Thank you to Pueblo Action Alliance for crafting and giving this workshop!
